94. Nutrition Research Opportunity w/ Dr. Terry Wahls

from The MSing Link · host Dr. Gretchen Hawley PT, DPT, MSCS

Dr. Terry Wahls is conducting a study and she wants you guys to know about it so you can participate or, at the very least, stay up to date with what’s happening! The study is comparing the Modified Paleolithic Diet  ((elimination of gluten, dairy, and eggs)), the Ketogenic diet, and usual diet with information about the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans. She’s looking to determine whether these diets improve quality of life and reduce fatigue. She talks to us about the study, what to expect, and how to participate! She also shares some of her best tips for starting a new diet and how long you should stay consistent for before trying something new! Dr. Terry Wahls is an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner and a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa where she conducts clinical trials in the setting of Multiple Sclerosis.  In 2018 she was awarded the Institute for Functional Medicine’s Linus Pauling Award for her contributions in research, clinical care and patient advocacy. She is the author of The Wahls Protocol: A Radical New Way to Treat All Chronic Autoimmune Conditions Using Paleo Principles, and the cookbook, The Wahls Protocol Cooking for Life.
