#95 How the Stories of Our Youth Shape Who We Are Today

from The Still Space Podcast · host Mary Lee Gannon

There is a difference between an experience and a story. An experience is the unedited account of what happens as you witness it and the feelings associated with how that experience made you feel. The stories are the interpretation of those memories and feelings and become the lens through which we recall the experience. The thoughts we think about our experiences and the stories we tell ourselves can be fiction. In this episode we explore how to be aware of not limiting the story because of a difficult emotion we didn’t deal well with and how to see the full experience that includes our strength, shortcomings, and resilience as we give the same grace to others.
