Well, Dan. Yeah, Rob. That's some pretty sharp shooting you got there. Well, thank you.
Yeah, I'm pretty skilled. Pretty good. Thank you. You must aim with your hand.
Oh, no, no, I do not aim with my hands. He whames with his hands just for God in the face of his father. No, I, Rob, I aim with my eye. That's the secret.
All right. Well, it's part of it. Surely, though, you shoot with your hand. No.
You see who shoots with his hand just for God in the face of his father. I shoot with my mind, actually. Oh, yeah. All right.
Well, it's a different approach. I like it. Yeah. But I mean, undeniably, though, you use that gun to kill people.
So you kill with that gun. Oh, my God. Who are you? Joe Biden?
No. I don't kill with my gun. He who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father. I kill with my heart.
This week on King Me, there are other worlds than these. This is the dark tower. King Me. King Me.
Welcome to King Me, the official Stephen King movie podcast, the official podcast of King King Me, the official podcast of Forget in the Face of your Father. The official podcast of both hosts being on the intro. I was going to say the official podcast of Rob Geddon is, you know, proven his metal in the intro there. What was that like for you?
It was the most nerve-acking thing that I've done in a long time. Yeah, I know. And let me tell you, it's been a year. Yeah.
And for the listener, you know, I was, I had like a grading rubric in front of me and every time Rob said something, I was furiously writing notes. How'd I do? Passing. All right.
Well, this was pass fail and buddy, you pass. I'll take it. I mean, I'll say this, our intro. Better movie.
Better movie. Yeah. Absolutely better than this movie. Yeah, I know.
This was, this was Turd City. This was a real stinker. That's where Jake is from, right? He's from the new Turd City.
Yeah. Turd City. Yeah. That's what it seems like, right?
Yeah. I mean, I think they say as much, right? Yeah. So this week we're doing the stupid dark tower movie.
Not, not the Gunslinger, which is the first book in the dark tower series. No, we're doing the dark tower movie. So you have read the dark tower series? Yes.
It was five, it took me five to realize they're kind of dumb. No, I don't know why I stopped reading them. I'm not, I'm a... But how many are there?
There are not dumb people. I'm so they're not dumb. There are seven I wanna say. Wow.
What is it? What is it like the Wind Through The Keyhole? Is that like an in-between kind of book? It's actually called the Window It Might Be, Hole.
I'm sorry. Yeah, you were cl, I guess you're not a, a King fan? Is that? Yeah, that must be it.
You're not like a, you're not a big reader, you're not a literate guy. No, a literate guy. No, I'm. What do we got here?
Eight books. Yes. All right. So you read, but you read these, right?
You read the first five you said. So you read the first five. Yeah. The little sisters of, uh, what is that?
Elder Eliaria? No. What the hell is that? No.
You didn't read that one. I think a fantasy novella. Yeah. I didn't read.
The nonsense isn't it. This is, this is chaos. These are like, all right. There are, oh, there are worlds within worlds.
Oh, gay. But you read the wolves of the, of the, the, yeah, I'm trying to figure out which ones I read. Cause now I'm like, did I not read them in the right order? I read, I know I read that they're gunslinger.
I read the drawing of three. I read the wastelands. How were those wolves of the call? They're like fun.
You know, they're weird. There's some, you know, uh, you know, how Stephen King is with like race. Yeah, he gets a little from the clip in the clip. Tell the people how he is with race.
Actually save that for when we start going through the cast. No, don't do that. He gets a little funny about it. Yes.
He, uh, there's like a weird thing where the one character is a guy. There we go. There it is. Um, there's a character in the novels who is like, that's not she's got right.
That's not right. That's not. Yeah. Susanna.
Susanna. Yep. She's got a split personality and one is like a nice lady. And then the other is like a caricature of a black woman, which actually is just maybe very smart.
And it's a, it's about code switching. Uh, I don't think so though. But yeah, that was, that was always something that stuck out of me. It was very weird.
But yeah, I mean, they're kind of all over the place. Like one, uh, I forget which one maybe like the Wasteland is the one where the like main villain of the whole book is a train. Oh, yeah. Blaine the mono Blaine the mono.
Yeah. And he loves riddles. And the whole thing is if you stump him with a riddle, he'll let you live, but you can't stump him because he's like a super computer. Right.
A super trained computer. Yes. And I think I have a vague memory of explaining to you how they defeat Blaine the mono. What was it?
I don't remember the funny character, Eddie tells him a joke. And it frizes circuits because jokes are illogical. Oh, no. Don't you see?
Oh boy. It's so stupid. Yeah. So I remember, yeah, they're just like, I mean, they're like fun fantasy books.
People go apeshit for them. I'm told that they're a lot more rewarding if you've read like every other Stephen King book. First because they're, there are some like characters who cross over from other. Right.
Yeah. And like the whole premise of the series is that they are traveling to the nexus of the Stephen King extended universe. Right. So I know, I have like a general, a very vague general understanding of the dark tower series.
I know that like the Stephen King universe is connected, you know, through this other, you know, through the dark tower series. I know that characters from this series and other series like show up in various forms. Like Stephen King himself is in the dark tower series at one point. So I know that, right?
Which I got it. I kind of, I don't hate that. Like, you know, the idea of like, honestly, in watching this movie, which I did not like. But one of the things that I kind of missed about like the Stephen King movies was like the connected aspect of it.
Like the Castle Rock stuff. Like, you know, like, which, which for the record Castle Rock also totally phones in and fumbles by the end of it. Yeah. No, I mean, like, yeah, not the show Castle Rock, but just like the town from the series.
Yeah. Yeah. And like, how like, you know, characters like will cross over into other stories and like the shared universe of it all, which like, I guess, especially right now, every movie is trying to do a shared universe thing. But like, I don't know, it seems like an interesting thing to do when you're like, you're thinking about, all right, like, especially in like the early adaptations and stuff, like, the Dead Zone is also somehow connected to Koojo through like one character or something.
You know, it doesn't have to be like, you know, Samuel Jackson, like showing up and waving and whatever. It's like, it could just be like, oh, that's just like a fun thing for people who are like, who know about it, you know? Yeah, it's, if Samuel, that's the thing Samuel Jackson shows up at the end of like every movie now and recruits people. I was watching a Do Plast Brothers movie.
And he was like, I was like, you for my team. Yeah. I'm putting together a team of guys who are cheating on their wives. Yeah.
Yeah. I, I'm with it. Like, it's weird to feel frustrated that a movie had no intention of like expanding beyond the confines of 90 minutes. Yeah.
Well, that's the other thing too, was like, I don't know, correct me if I'm wrong here. The towers. Absolutely. Right.
Is, you know, like, Roland is the main character. Yes, throughout the series. Yes. Okay.
And he is. Well, there are several, but he's like the guy. Yeah. Right.
He's like, you know, I guess he's the first, you know, the gunslinger, whatever. That first line is like, you know, the man of black, like, fleet across the desert and like the gunslinger, followed or whatever. Like that's honestly very cool way to start your book. Very cool way to start your book.
Agreed. But then like the man in black, right, Randall Flag is the villain throughout. Yes. Yeah.
You told me about the train villain and whatever, but like, Oh, no. Yes. He is. He is like, he's not present, but he is like the overarching villain.
Yeah. So this is where me not finishing the series becomes an issue. There is, there's a lot of talk of a crimson king who I didn't get to. Right.
So he may also be a bit of a problem. But yeah, in all the books I read, the man in black is like the guy. He's the guy. He's the big, bad guy.
Yeah. Right. So I don't know if they actually refer to him as Randall Flag. That's just him.
I mean, in this movie, they call him Walter, which is I guess Walter O'Dimm. Yeah. Walter O'Dimm. Yeah.
What's that about? What is that called? His name is what's weird is okay. His name is Walter Paddick in the novels.
Yes. But he is also Randall Flag. Yeah. So these are all, you know, aliases.
Right. The the Crimson King on Wikipedia here, it says the ultimate in evil. The smisteria figure wishes to conquer the dark tower and raise it to the ground. Since this will destroy the entire multiverse, the Crimson King is naturally cast as a villain in the dark tower.
So yeah, I guess he's like, I guess he would be the overarching. Yeah. Bad guy. But he doesn't seem like he is the.
As I would say in Star Wars episode one, he is the bigger fish. Right. There's always a bigger fish. Yeah.
But but it doesn't, like I said, it doesn't seem like he is he's like present in in the books as much as like Randall Flag is. Right. The Man in Black, A. L.
E. A. L. E.
S. The Walking Dude, which is my favorite. My favorite. My favorite was the AMC series.
Yeah. Yeah. The Walking Dude. I mean, that's what they should have called it.
That shows just a dude walking around the whole time. They kidding me? That show was like large 49 or whatever with with Wyatt Russell. That it was on AMC.
I only went for two seasons. But that's what they should have called that show. The Walking Dude. I've heard that show is good.
I heard it's good too. You ain't seen it? No. I like Wyatt Russell.
I think he's been pretty good and stuff. What do I know? Wyatt Russell from Wyatt Russell was in that in America? Yeah.
Well, he was in that new what's it called series Falcon Winter Soldier? Oh, I mean, I haven't seen that. I don't see that sort of thing. That's that's not my bag.
I think that's fully behind me now. That's fine. I know I watch it and it's not I don't think any of these things are, you know, necessities. What do I recognize him from?
Is it truly just Ingrid goes west that I recognize him from? He was in what the fuck? I think that's right. I think that's all I know him from.
Did you see everybody wants on that Richard Linklater movie about? No, I've only seen Ingrid goes west. Wait, surely you've seen the episode of Black Mirror that he's in? Play show.
Yes. I have seen that one. Yeah. Yeah.
But mostly I know him from Ingrid goes west. Yes. Specifically the post credit scene where Samuel L. Jackson comes to recruit Ingrid.
I'm putting together a team of dancers. Yeah. He's like, I'm putting together a team to go east and she's like, sorry. No, Kendu.
It's not really my scene. Yes. Why are we talking about Y-Ristle? Oh, because of Lodge 49.
Yeah. Walking dude. Back to this. That was incredible.
You're the walking dude. Walking it back to the topic at hand. So that's kind of that's my knowledge of this series. I also know like obviously Randall Flag has been and he's popped up in other stuff, right?
The stand I think being like, what's the biggest thing? So yeah, going into this movie, right? I had I had certain expectations. I assumed that when they made this movie in 2017, a mere four years ago, that they were they wanted to tell a bigger story than what this was.
Yeah. This is honestly, this movie is QAnon propaganda. And we can get into that in a bit. But yeah.
I don't want to unpack that. I mean, there's not much to unpack. I think you can kind of see where I'm going with it. But yeah, no, it's the scale of this movie feels incredibly small.
It's very strange. For a series of eight books. Yeah. Well, thousands of pages and then just like, let's cut the whole thing down to 90 minutes.
Yeah. Famously, a famously multi textual eight part series. Like, and obviously, like they don't tell the full story. But you don't get the sense at all that this is one of eight.
No, no, not at all. Like by the end of this movie, like, I mean, they're not going to make any more of these. I think they were talking about a series or something. But it's not left on like some huge cliffhanger or anything.
It's not like, you know, Randall Flag gets away and our heroes have to go chasing after him. I don't. Yeah. No, he actually gets shot in the head.
Yeah, he got shot in the head real good. So stupid. And truly, it's just because he curved the bullet. That's the worst part.
He curved the bullet. He did fucking curve the bullet, dude. Did you know that? Did you know that's how we killed him?
No, I had no idea. He has he kind of curves the bullet. He uses another bullet to curve the bullet. Yeah, I mean, it's still curving the bullet.
You can't there's no rule that says you can't shoot your one of your bullets to make it curve. So stupid. Yeah, it's fucking ridiculous. Really bad.
Really? Yeah, it feels as cheap as right. Like, I don't know, this thing seems like for a big tentpole movie like this, it feels incredibly cheap. Feels super cheap.
Right. And like, it's, I mean, at least the two leads in the movie are like big time actors. It's not like talking about Idris Elba and Jackie Earl Haley. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Of course. Just full in. Yeah, no, you know, like on a hand, whatever, which I can't imagine a worst casting than Matthew McConaughey as this fucking as. So I I'm going to push back on that and say that it's all about, I mean, the actual character Randall Flag has not written for this film.
He's great for. Okay. I think Don't You Think is just sort of like a. Yeah, well, okay.
Yeah. Like as a charismatic sort of nerd do well. Yes. One of the things that I actually I liked about the most recent stand mini series was Alexander Scarsgard's Randall Flag character.
I liked his whole look, how he was just like this denim Dan guy. Like he like Scarsgard and denim. Are you kidding me? Like you look at that guy and you're like, oh, you mean that walking dude over there?
Yeah. And but then you get this version of him, which is like he looks like a guy in like Mickey Rourke's crew. Yeah. Like his posse in LA, like they're hanging out the Viper room.
Yeah. Yeah. It's so fucked up. His shirt is unbuttoned like down to his stomach.
It's all leather. Yeah. It's like, like, uh, it's wearing Jim Morrison's old pants, old leather pants. He's got like, very recently got fillers.
Yeah. Like his face looks so fucking synthetic. So weird. Very weird.
Yeah. Yeah. And I got when did when did he lose all that weight for a Dallas Buyers Club? That's gotta be like, you know, 2011 or something.
Was it that long ago? It's gotta be. Have I really been living for 10 years in a post DBC world? Let's see.
How's Buyers Club? 2013. Yeah. Wow.
So not that long ago. So he's you're right. I mean, his face just looks like very strange and synthetic. It looks like he's wearing like a thin mask over his face.
Yeah. It's like the mask that um, Stachabaran Cohen wears to play that like Israeli, that idea of character. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. It's like Matthew McConaughey is wearing a Matthew McConaughey mask. Like it's tight to his face and you're like, I see it, but there's like an uncanny valley thing that's happening here. Look, I'm just gonna say it.
Matthew mask, Conaughey. Well, glad somebody said it. And it had to be me. Yeah.
Because you weren't gonna know. I wasn't gonna know. So no, people like you. So this.
All right. Let's, let's, let's get into like the plot of this fucking bullshit. Travis D. Oh, and just to just to put it bow on our, you know, the earlier part of this conversation, we don't talk about the books on this show.
No, no, we guys, we won't talk about the books at all. Okay. I'll be a 15 minute bleep. Yeah, which I don't want to get off on a rant here.
Okay. All right. Yeah. Okay.
Here we go. But there's another Stephen King podcast that's very popular that has, you know, like guests on it that are actually connected directly to these movies and such. And they get into like the books and the whole minutia of the book and the connection to the movies. And I find it incredibly boring.
The whole, the whole thing. Well, here's the thing. Here's the great thing about our Stephen King podcast is that neither of us are particularly devoted to the work of Stephen King. Well, that's a thing is like, I appreciate it.
But I'm not gonna, this is not gonna, no, no, I'm gonna live my life on my terms. That's right. Thank you very much. For my life time, please.
Yeah, that's just, that's not what kind of show this is. I'm, I'm sure, you know, like, if you want to show where people know what they're talking about and they don't go into hiding for a year, then you go listen to that other show. But if you want to, if you want to show that Apple podcast user, Gen D, described as sounding like when you're drunk at a bar and your friends, and with your friends and you think you're the funniest table there, that's us. No, I gotta read this.
It's a very funny one. Yeah. So Gen D, this is a four star review, which is gorgeous title. I love and hate this show.
You know, when you're drunk at a bar with your friends and you're the funniest table there, this show is what your table sounds like to everyone else at the bar. I mean, that was like, God, if you're listening any backhand, that is perfect. Jen, if you're listening, come sit at our table. Yeah, there's a seat for you here.
So funny. Yeah, it's really just the most viciousest attack I've ever endured. Yeah, she's saying that we are the funniest table, but also we're annoying everyone. Fucking annoying, yes.
Yes. That is why we stopped playing out episodes for a year. We read that. It was devastating.
It's been a rebuilding period. And unfortunately, what we rebuilt was the exact same show. Right. So, okay, you want to get into this now?
Yeah, I did it. Just a bit of the plot here because it's, I mean, it's super thin. There's not a whole lot to it. Yeah, there's only a bit to get through.
Right. So, we're introduced to Jake, who's a kid who is Jake in the books? Yes, Jake is an actual, he's like, he has a main character in the books. Okay.
So, Jake is a main character in the books, allegedly. Telling you, man. He has dreams. He has visions.
Later, we come to find out he's got the shine. The shine. Familiar with that? Which?
Or that? Okay. You love the shining. The shining.
Okay. Not the movie, the act, the verb, the shining. When people are shining, they have telepathy, right? What else do they have?
What other stuff they can do? I mean, according to this film, they can see the past and future. Maybe? Kind of.
I mean, he sees Rowan's dad die. Rowan's dad, the all-state insurance guy. Yeah, the right, the president for president. Right?
Is it all state? Yeah. Is it all state or state farm? Impossible enough.
It's impossible enough. Well, now state farm has the guy that all of the customers want to have sex with. They throw themselves at him for saving the money. Oh, no.
Anyone is the general. Oh, is that that's right? Is that played by Shaquille O'Neal? Shaquille O'Neal is commercial is great.
No, I'm sorry. What are you saying? I got to say, there's one here's what I was saying. There's one general commercial that makes me laugh so hard.
Do you want to know about it? Yeah, of course. It's that one where he's driving a low-res car. No, there's it's a commercial where it's like, what's his name?
Craig Robinson and whoever else. Yeah. They're like in the woods and they come upon Shaqu and he's like dressed in, he's got like a giant beard and he's dressed in like leaves and twigs and rags and shit. And they explain that that they left him there because he was like, yeah, he started talking about how much money the general could save us on car insurance and we thought you were insane.
So we left you in the woods. That's really funny. I like that. Yeah.
So, yeah, the rules of the shining of shining seem to be that you are telepathic and maybe can see the past. It's not also the future. And it makes you really good at drawing. Makes you really good at drawing.
So he's able to see, so he's having these visions of Roland, of the dark tower itself of, you know, that what is it? Midworld? Is that what they call it? Yes.
Yeah. Of Midworld. So he's getting like, and he doesn't know, he keeps having these visions. He doesn't know what's going on.
He also sees this facility on Midworld where, I mean, this is the cold open of the goddamn movie. Yeah. Yeah. You see a bunch of kids like playing it a park or they're like school or something, right?
It looks like a playground. Yeah. And then you hear a beeping and they all start looking at their Apple watches. Right.
And for some of the kids, it's like report to, you know, they get some kids watches are beeping, other ones aren't. And the ones whose watches are beeping are all met with like looks of fear from the other kids. They're like, oh no, what's going to happen to you? So they all go to like this facility, this like big, how would you describe this building?
I mean, it's like, it's sort of pyramid shaped. Inside the facility, there's, I mean, it just looks like a general sort of room full of technology. We have like a chair in the center that these kids get strapped down to. And the shine is extracted from their heads and used as a weapon to attack the dark tower.
Right. Now, if this doesn't smack of a dream of chrome harvesting to you, Rob. Well, maybe you need to open your third eye. Yeah.
Dumbass. Not wrong. No, it's it's terrifying what they do to these kids. Yeah, these Hollywood sickos.
And that's the thing movies like this. They brag about it. Do you think this is an expose? I think this is just like a subtle way that they're trying to say like, Hey, you know, I get it that this is a shitty movie, but also maybe take a look.
Well, yeah, the dark tower. Who else has a tower? Trump. This is the Hollywood sickos trying to take down Trump.
The Hollywood sickos. Yeah. And because actually he's not racist. He doesn't like they don't see color.
Right. The only one that can stop the Hollywood sickos is a black guy. Well, this all checks out. This has been right turns.
This has been right turns. So this has been like curly cues. So okay, they, so these kids, they're right, they're being, I guess, experimented on their trying to use the power of the shining, but these kids have to send a laser missile to the dark tower to destroy it. That's all.
When you say it, when you say it like that, it sounds stupid. Right. It sure does. I mean, but that is literally what is shown here is like the kids are strapped down.
There's like a light that like gets like, laser into the kid. And then from this machine, like this big burst of energy pops out and heads straight for the dark tower and the dark tower like falls. That's so okay. That's a kid's dream.
He keeps seeing it. He doesn't know what's going on. We see his home life a little bit. He has a mom that loves him very much that cares about him and and a step out of his smoke show, his mom.
Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, I was struck by what a smoke show his mom is. I was like, Oh my God, your mom? And you know, kind of foreshadowing because literally, quite I mean, later she quite literally does, right, she's reduced to a smoke show.
Yeah. So, so okay, we see that. And that's a great joke if you've seen this movie already, but you got to trust me. This is going to come together real nice little bit.
So he goes, somehow what he like there's a homeless guy that tells him that like there are these people in his dreams also that he sees these people that like are wearing skin, like they have bodies, but they're using like skin to conceal their true forms. And this this homeless person says like, they're stealing kids and bringing them over to the other side. You have to run and you know, this and you know, he like looks around when you see these kids and when you see these people in his visions, they're like kind of off looking. Yeah, right.
I mean, they look like, looks like they're wearing an bigger suit. Yeah, absolutely. We should have him on. Yeah, I mean, we have to I feel like the only way we can outdo the other Stephen King podcast is to have Edgar the cockroach that wears the Edgar suit on our podcast.
Yeah, I mean, it's not a bad idea. Yeah, I'll reach out to his people. All right, yeah. Yeah.
Call that your people. He wants to be paid in sugar water. Of course he does. And when you're like, we'll give you two glasses like, don't hold ball me.
I'm doing you a favor. Yeah, that's pretty good. Whoa, new character. New characters.
If we can't get him new character, the tig is the Edgar. You better war off. That's very dumb. That's where that's where like two people.
Yeah, you and me. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, no kidding. Let's just like, let's hit you said, yeah.
That's the kind of thing I think is a good idea to put on a shirt too. Hey, hey, well, good. Let's hit just Edgar. Wow.
Anyway, all right. So Jake, so Jake's parents, his mom and his stepfather, I think it would be a good idea for Jake to go to a mental facility, right? For the weekend for the weekend, just like a sleep away camp kind of thing. Very cash.
Yeah, and really it's like, it's mostly his stepdad who's like, we gotta get this kid. We gotta get him after. I got to have sex with your mom. You got to get out of here.
Right. She's a smoke show. I got to do this. Yeah.
So I mean, that's kind of it, right? Like there's a really brief moment of Jake at school where he like gets in a fight with some kid and the teachers just like, you should just leave. Yeah. What the fuck was that?
No call to the no call. I mean, that's how it is in New York, baby. That was so crazy. Right.
They were like, he gets into like some kid coming up to him and he's like, what are you drawing again? And then Jake like flips out and hits him and they get into like a minor fight. And then the teacher kind of breaks it up and the teachers are like, go home. That was the extent of it.
Yeah. She's like, go home and like, sleep it off or something. Right. So like the, so what the movie is trying to set up here, right, is that these visions are, they're like torturing Jake, right?
Like he cannot get the shit out of his head. Day and night, even when he's not sleeping, he like, he can't stop thinking about the stuff, right? Yes. And his walls of his bedroom are covered in drawings of his visions.
His home life is, you know, his parents or whatever are, they don't understand at all. School, you know, he doesn't have any friends he gets picked on all the time. All of this is what the movie is trying to set up and what it completely fails at setting up. You think so?
You think it fails? It shows us like these little, like he gets into one minor fight at school. And that's like, if I don't know, man, he was pummeling that kid that kid was begging him to stop and he was like, no. Well, yeah, I don't know.
I think if that, if that scene wasn't in the movie, the movie doesn't change at all. Like, okay, like in an emotional, there's no, you know, emotional stakes that are like, you know, implied or anything from that scene. You get that scene and you're moving on to the next scene and you completely forget about that. Yeah.
Yep. Pretty much even like, it's funny too, because like he has a friend, like we know, like meet his friend a lot in like the opening, you know, 20 minutes or whatever. And never, they're not at school together or anything like that. There's no like, yeah, I don't know.
I guess he'll listen to the characters are kind of like silo. Yeah, they're all like siloed away from each other. Right. A little bit.
So right, he's got, he has one friend and okay, so his parents think it would be a good idea that he goes away to this place, whatever, the doctor and the, I guess, orderly that come to take him. He notices the order he has, you know, a big line, like a scene, a costume scene down the side of his face. He's also like, I don't know, he's a real ventriloquist dummy looking motherfucker. He's like, he looks like Josh Gad kind of with like, pancake makeup on.
He's a Gad, for sure. He's like, Gad as Swof-Ben. As Swof-Ben. Yeah.
So, yeah. Yeah. No, you're right. Imagine, imagine Blue Velvet, okay.
And then you picture Swof-Ben and then replace Dean Stockwell with Josh Gad. The Dean Stockwell of his generation. Right. Yeah, yeah.
Jesus Christ. Oh God, in his fucking Broadway voice singing Roy Orbison. Oh, oh, fuck off. This has been Gad Flies.
What's the sound drop for that? Olarff. I don't know. Tell you what, I'm going to need some Zoloft, if you want me to watch that.
Piece of crap. I don't know. Let's keep going. So, yes, they, it's, yeah, like a woman and an orderly come to collect him to go to this sleepaway camp for the little first-whip issues.
Right. So, he pretends to pack his bag or whatever. He hugs his mom, begs her not to send him away and she says no, it'll be good for you. And then he, you know, he says he got to go to the bathroom and then he escapes out the window.
And then this orderly, like, basically jumps out the window. He starts doing it. Yeah, he activates. Yeah, he activates exactly.
He's doing like parkour outside. But unfortunately, so is Jake because all New York kids. And what else are you going to do besides parkour? Come on.
Just practice on the fire escape. Right. Yeah. So Jake, this was a pretty fun little fake out.
I thought that Jake gets away from them by running down into the subway and you're like, Oh, shit, he's going to like go in the tunnel, do that. And then he just pops out the other across the street through the other subway entrance, which like, you know, if you're trying to make a temple big budget popcorn, flick on a budget, that's how you do it. Yeah, there you go. Yeah.
You just do away with it altogether. Nothing wrong with that. So yeah, so now he's in his vision, right? He saw, he sees this house, right?
And he's like, you know, it has an address to it or whatever. So he posts a picture of the house and the address and he says, does anybody know where this is? And you know, like the form is like, uh, it's up your ass. Well, maybe your mom knows like some bullshit like that.
And then like, one probably does know though. I mean, she probably does know. You should have asked her. But she, he sees like somebody says like, Hey, it's in wherever my old neighborhood and sends them on someplace.
He goes to this house, which is so this, it doesn't, this house doesn't seem to fit with like its surroundings at all. It's like, yeah, it's like a, it's like a, in the comic books and stuff, like Dr. Strange is like, man, a mansion is supposed to be in like the village, you know, like where the fuck is this? This doesn't fit anywhere.
What are you talking about? It's in so ho. Yeah, yeah. Or whatever.
Um, yes, that is kind of crazy. That I was trying to remember if that is like a thing in the books that he has like an old weird house he has to go to. And my conclusion was probably it seems like the kind of thing he would have to do. Yeah.
So he goes into the house and it's like, it's got a general like sort of, it's all rundown and creepy and stuff. And then there's like, uh, like a gateway and a door and stuff. And then we see there's a, uh, a demon, a monster or something. The house comes alive with all of this like broken wood and shit that just starts wrapping him up.
Um, the only thing I could think of was how many splinters this kid was getting at this very moment. Like how he was just getting like poked in whatever by this wood, which he doesn't have a scratch on him when he's at this, but he uses his shining to like, I guess, kill the demon is what they say. Yeah. Um, so and then a part of, part of his visions is, uh, uh, four digit number.
It's just like one nine one nine. And then he like finds a keypad in the house, which this by the way, not part of the, not part of the book. Well, that, okay, this is what I was going to ask. These portals and like all that stuff.
