畫說漢字/圖解《說文解字》/1000個漢字的故事/東漢許慎原著丑（chǒu）“丑”字有两个来源，一个本义是手的形状，就像一个人手，字形前面的三点代表指甲。金文的“丑”，字形上与甲骨文方向相反，字义未变。后来成为十二地支中的一个，专门用来计时。另外一个丑字是指样貌丑陋。古人认为鬼的面貌最为丑陋，甲骨文的写法，也正反映了这种说法。后来“丑”还引申为丑恶、不好的事物，由丑恶又引申出不光彩和可耻。（丑是时间的坐标，又是相貌的评判）
