99: Conversion Therapy Survivor Nathan Winterton

from Latter-Day Lesbian

Trigger Warning: in this episode we discuss delicate themes such as conversion therapy, anorexia and suicidal ideation. If these topics are triggering for you, feel free to pause the recording, listen in a supportive environment or skip this one. In the fall of 2019, Nathan Winterton pulled over to the side of the road because they couldn't stop the flow of tears over the news that the LDS church essentially defended the practice of conversion therapy by attempting to prevent the passing of a Utah state law that would make it illegal. That day, Nathan took a selfie that went viral on social media. A year later, they agreed to come on our podcast and talk about it. We feel honored that Nathan so openly shared their experience with all of us. It's an extraordinary story. Music provided by Purple Planet: https://purple-planet.com. Hosted on Acast.
