"Jeg er vintreet, dere er grenene. Den som blir i Meg og Jeg i ham, bærer mye frukt. Foruten Meg kan dere slett ikke gjøre noe." (Joh. 15,5)Jesus tok ikke dette helt ut av det blå. Det var heller ikke bare teori for Ham. Dette var det Han selv levde, (Joh. 5,19): Han sa jo til dem: "Sannelig, sannelig sier Jeg dere: Sønnen kan ikke gjøre noe av seg selv, men bare det Han ser Far gjøre. For det Han gjør, gjør Sønnen likedan." Jesus selv var avhengig av å være påkobla sin himmelske Far. Skulle ikke vi kristne trenge det enda mer?Vi kan legge bak oss mange travle og innholdsrike dager, men det betyr ikke at de bærer frukt nødvendigvis. Og det er det vi er kalt til. Det er en naturlig forventning Gud har til oss som frelste mennesker, akkurat slik en forventer at et vintre skal bære frukt (Jes. 5,1-2). Vi skal ikke bære hvilken som helst frukt, men frukt som varer, som er av evig verdi, står det (v. 16). Da gjelder det å være påkobla Jesus i tanke og oppmerksomhet, så Hans livgivende Ord og fellesskap kan strømme gjennom oss og virke i oss. Da bærer vi frukt, automatisk!Ja, la oss lære av Jesus selv og det eksemplet Han viste. Han var påkoblet Gud som Far, og derfor bar Han frukt. Og så trenger vi å være påkoblet Jesus, slik at vi kan bære frukt. Og da tenker jeg at vi skal kunne merke at vi bærer frukt, uten at det skal være oppmerksomheten vår.
