As a result, we may struggle to keep in step with Christ, or worse, are tempted to give up following him altogether. But what can stir up and sustain an enduring devotion to Jesus? Answer: A complete confidence in who he is as our great high priest. By divine design, the author uses Melchizedek, an enigmatic priest-king from the life of Abraham, to encourage us in our adversity to turn our eyes to Christ. In him we have not just a better Melchizedek, but a better hope.
