A bigger handful

I heard two little anecdotes yesteday, encouraging us to not limit God and to trust Him to equip us for whatever he asks of us. I will recount one here. Little Jack went to do an errand for his mother at the local village shop. The lady serving there told Little Jack that as he was such a good brave boy, helping his mother, he could take a handful of the caramel chocolates in the bowl in front of him. With big wide eyes he looked up at her and asked her to take a handful for him, realising he would get far more that way! It may seem like a cheek to aspire for more but this is to serve to show us that God wants us to trust in His bountiful nature. There are many verses telling us this but here is one: "Now to Him who is able to give immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us" (Ephesians 3:20). That power is of God and He can enable us to receive and do far more than our limited understanding. God's Kingdom is one of receiving and giving.
