A Birthday Thought

Written for the 70th birthday of family friend Johanna. Lyrics: here’s a thought 'tween you and me about the world we share in the beat of these busy streets there's seldom time to spare memories of the past, strong now, fade at last we might forget the flavours of the potions we were sold but we’ll recall the sum of all the stories that they told the destinies of mice and men cannot be foretold we pursue, as all must do, our syncopated goals we seek to find some peace of mind, bring nothing to leave behind though our youth might run its course our lives are not forlorn so celebrate both long and late the date that you were born cover image by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay
