Effective image facial capture supports safety and security, as well as retail and marketing. But, there are challenges when it comes to capturing good facial images. One of the main challenges is placing cameras at an optimal location to be able to capture great facial images, according to Joseph. “Capturing good facial images is important, especially when you’re dealing with customer-facing environments,” Joseph said. “Specifically, for me, most of the time, it’s in the banking and finance institutions, and it can also be in retail, as well.” When incidents occur, law enforcement comes in, and they need to get evidence. Being able to have that optimal image and recognize and provide forensic detail is essential. There are steps to take when trying to eliminate any potential obstacles when placing cameras. “Eliminating any obstructions that can come from any existing cameras that they would like to leverage for analytics,” Leiponis said, “to installing or repositioning a more discrete camera that’s closer to the actual face.”
