AXIS Communications and Parabit in Partnership

AXIS Communications and Parabit partnership brings a stronger surveillance into low horizontal fields of view combining AXIS modular cameras with purpose built housings designed for a low profile, clean and rugged installation. Parabit camera housings integrate seamlessly with AXIS modular cameras, including the AXIS F, FA, and P12 modular series. Built as an enhancement layer to ceiling mounted cameras, these housings integrate AXIS camera sensors into existing infrastructure and position them for the improved views, including facial images, merchandise, license plates, and many other targeted fields of view. The value of our housings is in the horizontal FOV perspective. Alternative angles add clarity, accelerate investigations, and support analytics by capturing details that overhead views can miss. Made from lightweight, durable materials, Parabit housings paired with AXIS modular cameras deliver a clean aesthetic and an effective surveillance solution for both discreet, deterrent and investigation use cases.

A Bit About S1 Ep 5: Security Innovation in Banking

Keeping banks and their customers' assets safe and secure matters now more than ever in the age of cyberattacks and online identity theft.David M. Friedman, the Head of Physical Security at Apple Bank, and Rob Leiponis, CEO and President of Parabit Systems, Inc., caught up with Gabrielle Bejarano to discuss the importance of security innovation, which enhances the customer’s banking experience.“If we’re doing our job, then we’re in the background,” Friedman said. “We want our customers to have a pleasant experience, and we’re constantly looking toward new procedures to get the most out of our system. The emerging and re-emerging trend of stealing card information at ATMs or the theft of an identification card are but a few of the issues banks deal with on a day-to-day basis. At Apple Bank, “we have a well-thought-out, solid security plan that looks at even the threats we can’t see yet, with a robust monitoring system,” he said. “And probably the main thing that makes a successful security program at a bank of any size is training; we train our staff constantly, continually, virtually, and on-site as much as possible. The new, innovative technologies at Apple Bank include ATM safety and security features such as door-status monitoring, light-level detection, and human-presence monitoring. “We [are] also working to tie together security systems to integrate the data into a secure place so it makes it easier for investigators to anticipate different types of crimes that may happen, as well as tying those security systems into the retail side of the bank so employees have a quick reaction time to any security threat inside the bank,” Leiponis said. While ATMs continue to grow and banks limit in size, the technology to protect consumers is key. “It’s extremely important to provide a significant amount of security around an environment where there is no bank staff around to protect those customers,” he said. David Friedman's comments in this podcast do not represent the views of Apple Bank or it's Board of Directors.

To see the full video and transcript of this podcast, please click here: https://www.parabit.com/post/a-bit-about-using-security-to-drive-value-in-retailSecurity systems have many applications for retail beyond their initial use case. A Bit About, a Parabit Systems podcast, host Hilary Kennedy spoke with Rob Leiponis, CEO of Parabit Systems, about how security systems can drive value in retail and improve the retail experience.Several viable use cases enable integrated technology the potential to transcend perceived application limitations for broader value within an organization. According to Leiponis, here are ways retail systems can improve customer experience and support modern targeted marketing opportunities.“Through the ability of analytics and, as well as demographic identification through surveillance systems, security systems help retail organizations identify customers and patterns of purchases. Traffic cloves of people are really powerful solutions,” Leiponis said.Security departments tend to be a call center where retail is a profit center, according to Leiponis. Many customers leverage the demand and applications that security systems can provide. Security departments need to be able to fund some of these cameras, with much more acute imagery and patterns of people. “Facial analytics has just been an incredible resource for law enforcement, as well as retail operations to be able to identify people,” Leiponis said. Listen to hear more about how security systems can drive value in retail.

A Bit About S1 Ep 2: The Benefits of Optimized Video Surveillance Sensor Placement

To see the full video and transcript of this podcast, please click here: https://www.parabit.com/post/a-bit-about-enhanced-facial-image-captureOn this episode of A Bit About, a podcast by Parabit Systems, Host Hilary Kennedy talked with Rob Leiponis, CEO and President of Parabit Systems, and Stephen Joseph, Segment Development Manager of Banking and Finance at Axis Communications. Axis offers intelligent security solutions that enable a smarter, safer world. They talked about how technology allows for a more intelligent and safer world by creating network solutions that provide insights for improving security and new ways of doing business. Effective image facial capture supports safety and security, as well as retail and marketing. But, there are challenges when it comes to capturing good facial images. One of the main challenges is placing cameras at an optimal location to be able to capture great facial images, according to Joseph. “Capturing good facial images is important, especially when you’re dealing with customer-facing environments,” Joseph said. “Specifically, for me, most of the time, it’s in the banking and finance institutions, and it can also be in retail, as well.” When incidents occur, law enforcement comes in, and they need to get evidence. Being able to have that optimal image and recognize and provide forensic detail is essential. There are steps to take when trying to eliminate any potential obstacles when placing cameras. “Eliminating any obstructions that can come from any existing cameras that they would like to leverage for analytics,” Leiponis said, “to installing or repositioning a more discrete camera that’s closer to the actual face.”

A Bit About S1 Ep 1: Elevating the Passenger Experience

Find the video and full transcript of this podcast here: https://www.parabit.com/post/a-bit-about-elevating-passenger-experience“Let the Journey Take Flight” is the motto of the new terminal at Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport in Brownsville, Texas. Open since January, this state-of-the-art facility is ready to take business and leisure passengers wherever their journeys lie. And, to ensure this terminal can handle the needs of both today and tomorrow, BRO brought in the experts at Parabit systems to provide the technology and systems that are best-in-class for today and are adaptable for the future.Bryant Walker, Assistant City Manager and Aviation Administrator for the City of Brownsville, Texas, and Rob Leiponis, President and CEO of Parabit Systems, talked about the exciting transformation at BRO.With the previous terminal at BRO dating back to 1972 and no longer meeting the compliance, commercial and passenger needs of 2021, it was more than time for a new terminal. With that decision in place, Walker said it was critical to design and build a terminal that set a high bar.“We wanted to make sure we future-proofed the terminal itself and built the technology and components in it that we could expand on and integrate technologies that yet don’t exist, as well as the latest technology Parabit provided a lot of as we build this,” Walker said.It was essential to build into the infrastructure of the new terminal enough power, drainage and utility corridors to handle whatever may come.“In the building itself, we ran additional conduit that is in excess of what we need for the access control, for the CCTV, and even a lot of the biometrics,” Walker said. “All of that we built into the design very early in that design phase so we can add everything that we wanted, as well as the future technologies as they roll out.”
