A Blerd Without Borders

In this eye-opening episode of Closed Door Conversations Podcast, host Mil Ivory sits down with Phil The Blerd Explorer for a fascinating conversation about travel, identity, culture, and living life beyond expectations. Phil shares the inspiration behind his book, his experiences traveling abroad, and the meaning behind the term B.L.E.R.D. (Black Nerd) and how embracing that identity has shaped his journey as a Black man. Together, Mil and Phil explore what it means to challenge stereotypes, pursue uncommon interests, and navigate spaces where Black men are often underrepresented. From international adventures and cultural discoveries to personal growth and self-definition, Phil reflects on the many experiences that have taken him outside of the box society often places around Black men. The conversation dives into the importance of curiosity, authenticity, and refusing to let others dictate what being Black should look like. Raw, insightful, and inspiring, this episode celebrates individuality, exploration, and the freedom to create your own path—regardless of expectations. Because sometimes the greatest journey isn't just seeing the world—it's discovering who you are while exploring it.
