On December 22, 2003 the lives of Melissa Gibson's father, mother, and brother were tragically cut short when an intruder broke into their missionary residence on the island of Palau at 3 a.m. in the morning. Within a week Melissa's grandmother had flown from Mexico to take her grand daughter to the safety of her extended family living in the United States. Before leaving Palau, Melissa's grandmother insisted on meeting the man who kidnapped her grand daughter and murdered her family. In this episode Melissa reflects on the dramatic lessons of her grandmother's choice to go off script and forgive her family's killer.
