A Chat with Ogul Uner, medical student
from Honestly Bilal · host Bilal Ahmed
In this episode, I hang out with Ogul Uner. Ogul is a fourth-year medical student at Emory University who recently applied for residency in ophthalmology. From his days as a college student at UPenn after leaving his home country of Turkey, to reading journal articles about Retinoblastoma, Ogul's journey has been marked by a willingness to go above and beyond to satisfy his intellectual curiosity. Ogul has worked with researchers at Emory and abroad to collect data and publish in high impact academic journals such as JAMA oncology. Ogul continues to expand on his passion for ophthalmology by his other work in pediatric retinal disease and retinopathy of prematurity. With an interest in medical education, he and a classmate established a teleophthalmology elective at Emory's medical school. Ogul is a polymath who has interests in meditation, music, and more.
