David's prayer for renewal reflects a desire for a heart continually open and right before God. Exposing the “inner make up” of the heart.      Father keep my heart open…  Why is it so important for my wife to keep her heart open to me? Because it means she is sympathetic to what I am going through, my needs, my hurts, my wants, needs, hopes, fears… it is the foundation to a healthy growing relationship between us.
