A Christmas Moment - December 31st 2025 #newyear #newyearseve #2026

from A Moment to Pause - a short daily Christmas reflection · host The Oblates

Welcome to the morning reflection on the last day of 2025. I am Pat Hughes. We will start with the sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Today’s Gospel is John 1: 1-18   ‘In the beginning was the Word,     and the Word was with God,     and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.  All things came to be through him,     and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life,     and this life was the light of the human race;     the light shines in the darkness,     and the darkness has not overcome it.’   This gospel of John starts with the creation, tells about redemption in the middle and ends with completion of the purpose of creation through the grace and truth of Jesus Christ. The Divinity has clothed Himself in humanity so that all of humanity can share in His Divinity.  Thank you God Our Father for this privilege.   On this last day of 2025 we need to focus on our need for renewal. We pray: and ask forgiveness for the times during this past year when our lives did not speak for the light. We pray that the Holy Spirit lives in us so that we may point others to the true light that enlightens us.  Glory be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
