A Christmas Moment - Monday December 29th 2025 #christmas

Dear friends, a very happy and holy Christmas to you! We join Pat Hughes for today’s daily reflection and moment to pause. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Welcome to our morning reflection for December 29th. I am Pat Hughes. Today’s Gospel from Luke 2 : 22-35 is so rich it is difficult to distill but the quote I would like to bring your attention to is ‘ A light to reveal your will to the Gentiles and bring glory to your people, Israel.’ Simeon is in the temple and he is there because he was promised by the Holy Spirit that he would not die until he had seen the Messiah. Jesus fulfilled this prophecy and His role as the long awaited Saviour and the reading does also hint at the sword that will pierce Mary’s heart. Let us pray. For our own patient waiting for God’s promises and ask ourselves also,are we willing to embrace the sword of suffering and challenge that comes with following Christ. Lord in your mercy allow us to see the light and take courage. Thank you for joining us today In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
