A Christmas Moment - Monday January 5th 2026

from A Moment to Pause - a short daily Christmas reflection · host The Oblates

Good morning and welcome to your daily moment of pause, reflection on prayer.  Rob Doherty speaking. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit  Amen  Good morning and welcome, and thank you for joining us for our morning prayer with the Oblate Family    Today’s Gospel is from John, Chapter 1, verses 43-51  “He is Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth.’   ‘From Nazareth?’ said Nathanael ‘Can anything good come from that place?’     Reflection  In our Gospel reading, at first, Nathanael is doubtful about Jesus. He asks, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” His judgement is quick and not very generous. But it does not last. By the end of the Gospel, Nathanael’s view has completely changed.     Dear Lord,  I come before you with a humble heart, seeking your guidance and wisdom. Help me to see others through your eyes, with compassion and understanding. Open my heart to their struggles and challenges, so that I may extend a helping hand instead of passing judgment. Teach me to embrace empathy and kindness, and to treat others with the same grace you have shown me. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray.  Amen.    In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.    Amen  Thank you for joining us today.
