A Christmas Moment - Thursday 8th January 2026
from A Moment to Pause - a short daily Christmas reflection · host The Oblates
Good morning and welcome to your daily moment of pause, reflection on prayer led by Rob Doherty. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Amen Good morning and welcome, and thank you for joining us for our morning prayer with the Oblate Family Today’s Gospel is from Mark, Chapter 6, verses 34-44 The feeding of the five thousand By now it was getting very late, and his disciples came up to him and said, ‘This is a lonely place and it is getting very late. So send them away, and they can go to the farms and villages round about, to buy themselves something to eat.’ He replied, ‘Give them something to eat yourselves.’ Reflection In the hands of Christ, scarcity becomes abundance. What looks insufficient from a human point of view becomes the very place where God chooses to act in plenty. Dear Lord You saw the hunger of the crowd and met it with love. Open our eyes to those who hunger today — for food, for hope, for kindness. Teach us to share what we have, trusting that in Your hands, even the little we offer can feed many. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Amen Thank you for joining us today.
