A Christmas Moment - Tuesday January 6th 2026
from A Moment to Pause - a short daily Christmas reflection · host The Oblates
Good morning and welcome to your daily moment of pause, reflection on prayer. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Amen Good morning and welcome, and thank you for joining us for our morning prayer with the Oblate Family Today’s Gospel is from Matthew, Chapter 2, verses 1-12 ‘some wise men came to Jerusalem from the east. ‘Where is the infant king of the Jews?’ they asked. ‘We saw his star as it rose and have come to do him homage.’ In the ancient world, the appearance of a new star or a comet was often associated with the birth or death of a great ruler. Many of us today also find that God comes to us in and through the beauty and splendour of creation, of nature. A walk by the sea, along a river, in a beautiful park, or up a mountain, becomes a spiritual experience. It lifts our hearts to God. Almighty God, When I gaze at the stars, I feel the vastness of Your glory. When I hear the song of a bird, I sense the joy of Your Spirit. Let my heart never grow dull to the beauty around me, but always rise in praise to the One who made it all. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Amen Thank you for joining us today.
