A Christmas Moment - Wednesday January 7th 2026
from A Moment to Pause - a short daily Christmas reflection · host The Oblates
Good morning and welcome to your daily moment of pause, reflection on prayer. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Good morning and welcome, and thank you for joining us for our morning prayer with the Oblate Family Today’s Gospel is from Matthew, Chapter 4, verses 12-17,23-25 ‘The people that lived in darkness has seen a great light; on those who dwell in the land and shadow of death a light has dawned.’ We are still at the very start of a new year, and today’s Gospel brings us to the beginning of Jesus’ public life in Galilee. Matthew describes this moment as the arrival of light; a light breaking into a place marked by darkness and uncertainty. It is an image that resonates deeply with us. Even now, in these winter days, we are aware of how precious light is. We know the relief that comes when days slowly begin to lengthen, and how much brighter evenings can lift our mood and renew our energy. Dear Lord, In times of darkness, we seek Your guiding light. Illuminate our paths, dispel our fears, and grant us the strength to navigate the shadows. May Your love and wisdom shine upon us, leading us to hope and clarity. Embrace us in Your warmth as we trust in Your divine purpose. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Thank you for joining us today.
