Many people read the Christmas story in scripture as part of a yearly holiday season tradition. But the author of the story found in Luke tells us that he recorded actual history and real events. This is not “once upon a time.” These are not fanciful stories of Zeus and Apollo on Mount Olympus. This is real. Since this is the case, we can now look at this written record of events that took place some 2000 years ago and wonder, “what was this moment like for the shepherds?”
