A Church That Train People
from Because of Jesus... Hosted by Spencer Christian Church
What does it mean to pass something truly valuable from one generation to the next? In this message drawn from Titus chapter 2, we explore one of the most urgent questions facing the church today: how does living, breathing faith survive beyond a single lifetime? The apostle Paul writes to a young preacher leading a congregation of newer believers, and his instructions cut straight to the heart of what a healthy church actually looks like. It is not merely a gathering of people who hold correct beliefs in their heads. It is a community where truth is taught, visibly lived out, and deliberately handed to the next generation. Paul lays out a vision where older men model steadiness and self-control, older women model holiness in the way they carry their entire lives, and both invest that hard-won wisdom into younger believers who are still learning what faithfulness costs. The central insight is both simple and challenging: sound doctrine was never meant to stay abstract. It is meant to become visible in marriages, in friendships, in how we handle frustration and exhaustion and temptation. We are reminded that the generation coming up behind us is watching, and what they see in us will shape what they believe is possible in their own walk with God.
