But very few of those with the toxoplasma parasite show any signs of a disease known as taxoplasmosis because a healthy person's immune system usually keeps the parasite from causing illness. Research now being conducted at the University of Arizona is looking into how this common parasite might help in treating brain disorders like Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimers and stroke.
