A Common Cause of Jealousy in your Life and Heart

from Second Monday Podcast · host JoeB

Lesson 10 (James 3:13-18) Quote that Joe indicates during the episode: “If you are at a church with many people on the opposite end of the political spectrum—then you have a good pastor. They are probably good at loving different kinds of people, and drawing them all into the one family of God. “It is tempting to think that a church with people with different political perspectives is failing to clearly communicate its values and vision (or worse that there is a secret agenda that you just don't know about yet). It is tempting to think that because you don't agree with your pastor on every thing that you probably need to find a new church. “Instead, what it probably means is that your pastor is good at loving people -- listening to them, understanding them, and helping them feel felt. “If you are in a church where you always know what is going to come out of your pastor's mouth, and you happen to always agree with it—then your pastor is probably better at politics than at loving you.” (sic.
