A Conscious Look at Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders

from Sacred Window Podcast: Nurturing Awareness in Postpartum Care · host Christine Devlin Eck

On todays episode we talked with Courtney Morris, mother, Licensed Professional Counseling-Associate, master's level holistic nutritionist, and yoga teacher. We discussed perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and the mind-body connection. Courtney shared her story about her experience with eating disorders as a youth and describes how yoga played a huge role in healing her connection with her body. This led to her offering support to those that were struggling with the same issues, with a less clinical approach. While in school to become a counselor, she became pregnant and began to feel called to work with those who have experienced perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She breaks down the broad scope of what PMADS are, who they affect, how to identify them, and how they can interrupt the time of pregnancy and postpartum time. We explored tools and insights on how we can navigate the emotional changes of postpartum that are experienced by most families. Today on Sacred Window Podcast: What is a PMAD?
