Dr. Spires is known for her work in the areas of digital and disciplinary literacies and project-based inquiry (PBI) global for diverse learners. Hiller has conducted extensive research, teaching and engagement with teachers in China for which she received NC State’s Jackson A. Rigney International Service Award. She led 10 delegations to China, partnered with Beijing Royal School since 2010, and co-created Suzhou North America High School, where she continues to serve as their Honorary Principal. Dr. Hiller Spires is executive director of the William and Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation and professor emerita at North Carolina State University.
