A Conversation with Leslie Li

from Asian American History 101 · host Gen & Ted Lai

Welcome to Season 3, Episode 5! In episode 3 of this season, we talked about the amazing Kim Loo Sisters. Today's episode we had a chance to talk with Leslie Li, the daughter of the third sister, Jeneé. Other than writing the book Just Us Girls: The Kim Loo Sisters, Leslie is working on the documentary of the group and she is an accomplished author as well. She wrote the books Bittersweet as well as Daughter of Heaven: A Memoir with Earthly Recipes. We really enjoyed our conversation with Leslie, and she shared stories of the Kimmies as well as information on her books, her thoughts on diverse storytelling, what she's working on now, and so much more. To learn more about Leslie's books, visit her book page on her site. We really hope the Kim Loo Sisters documentary gets made, because we need to celebrate Asian American History before it gets forgotten. So hopefully there's a wealthy benefactor who's listening to this podcast who can help out.
