Representative Matthew Herridge is a prominent West Virginia businessman and political figure, currently serving as the Secretary of Commerce for West Virginia since January 16, 2025. A lifelong resident of the state, Herridge is a co-owner of several Qdoba Mexican Eats restaurants in Athens, Marietta, and Vienna, and previously managed a portfolio of Burger King franchises through his company, Charton Management, until their sale in May 2023. Transitioning from a decade-long career in clinical psychology at the Charleston Area Medical Center and as clinical faculty at the WVU School of Medicine, he entered the business world in 2005, growing both a family restaurant portfolio and a software development company focused on restaurant industry solutions.Herridge is also deeply engaged in politics, having been elected chairman of the West Virginia Republican Party in January 2024. His political involvement includes serving as the finance chairman of the state GOP and chairing the Government Relations Committee of the National Franchise Association, where he honed skills in fundraising and consensus-building.
