A Costly Fantasy: The Tower of Babel The builders of the Tower of Babel want to live in a fantasy where creation stands before the hosts of Heaven and finds that the name presiding over creation is humanity, and not God. There are three aspects of the sin of the Tower of Babel I want us to examine. The first is idolatry: humanity desires for itself the perspective of heaven, where humanity is at the top of creation's hierarchy deciding for itself what is good and holy. The second is disregard: humanity has no fear of God, and they do not even speak any reference to God when they make their plans to build a tower to the heavens; moreover, they cannot even be bothered to contemplate how they will take God's throne from Him, because they do not even acknowledge His rule.
