A Critical Faith Sermon: Come Home - January 16, 2022

from Sermons for a Critical Faith · host First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, Nebraska

On April 3, 1968, the day before he was assassinated, Martin Luther King Jr. gave a famous speech, that ended with this:   “I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!”  Martin Luther King Jr. was inviting people to join him on a journey home – home to the promised land.  The prophet Isaiah also invites us on a journey home – home to the heart of God.  They are both at their core spiritual journeys, inviting us to see ourselves with new eyes, and to embrace the hope to which we have been called.  Our preacher is the Rev. Dr. Sue Coller
