A “Cromulent” Edition of RRR #1,284 Feb. 23, 2025

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Jim Miller and Charlie Farrell Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Do you know who these fellows are? They are the popular comic vocal duo of Jim Miller and Charlie Farrell and you’ll hear two of their records in the final segment of this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records. The show starts out with the story behind La Palina, both the New York restaurant and the cigar brand and a set of four “cigar” songs. That will be followed by some information about the BBC Green Book and a set of “basket” songs. In the third segment we’ll have another episode of the exciting quiz game, “One Thing in Common” followed by another RRR vocabulary lesson. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience. THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW!
