A Different World

This week on CareFreeBlackGirl, we celebrate creator, showrunner, and executive producer Felicia Pride and her work bringing A Different World back to the screen. We unpack the girls of Hillman and the complicated realities of growing up, sexuality, religion, relationships, and self-discovery, before connecting those themes to current conversations around consent, sexual assault, campus culture, and why women, especially Black women, are so often expected to be “perfect” before they’re believed or protected. Plus, we get into the men of A Different World in This or That and close with a Get Free conversation about the internet’s obsession with Black women’s appearances, aging, and the recent commentary surrounding Jasmine Guy.
