A Discussion of Child Sexual Abuse of Boys and It’s Aftermath in “Monday, Rent Boy” with Susan Doherty

[Content Warning] : Child Sexual Abuse, Child Exploitation, Religious Abuse Today, Jan is joined by Susan Doherty, to discuss the release of her new book “Monday Rent Boy.” She began her working life at Maclean’s Magazine in Toronto. After Maclean’s, she worked for a digital publishing company in Paris, and free-lanced for The International Herald Tribune, La Tribune de Genève, and The Independent in London. Back in Canada, she studied creative writing at the University of Toronto, Metropolitan University and Concordia University. Her award-winning debut novel, A Secret Music was published in 2015. Her second book, The Ghost Garden, the story of an Ottawa woman’s life-long struggle with schizophrenia won the Quebec Writers’ Federation Mavis Gallant Prize for Non-fiction prize in 2019. Her new novel, Monday Rent Boy debuted on March 20, 2024 and deals with issues of child exploitation. All of her writing centers around the issue of traumatized children navigating to adulthood free from addiction and living healthy, happy lives.
