A Divided Heart

Think about trying to walk down a path with one foot planted firmly in a boat and the other foot standing on the dry dock. As long as the boat stays completely still, you might manage the stretch. But the moment the waters move, you are headed for a disastrous fall. You cannot move forward when your legs are pulling in opposite directions.​This is the exact tragedy of a divided heart. We try to keep one foot in the Kingdom and one foot in the world, wondering why we feel so exhausted, frustrated, and stuck. Loving God with the whole of our heart means we bring both feet onto the rock of His truth. We stop trying to play both sides of the fence. God loathes lukewarm devotion because He knows it robs us of our true authority. Let's stop straddling the line, close the gap in our loyalty, and throw our entire weight into our walk with Him today.
