A due-date baby, raising good humans, working mom struggles, and the myth of having it all
from Arrivals: A Birth Story Podcast · host Merelise Wilson
This week, Merelise is joined by her friend and former colleague, Kiersten Saunders of rich and REGULAR. Kiersten shares the birth story of her son, Beau, one of the elite group of babies born on their due date! Beau’s birth started with Kiersten’s water breaking, after which they immediately went to the hospital just to hurry up and wait, when Kiersten’s contractions didn’t start for a while. After an epidural and smidge of Pitocin, Beau was finally born healthy, albeit a little bruised from some time stuck in the birth canal. Kiersten describes that, the first moment when she met him, there was craziness happening all around her, but all she could hear was her sweet boy’s first cries. From there, Kiersten and Merelise cover a LOT of ground discussing their postpartum experiences as working moms and the challenge of rectifying the new version of yourself with who you were pre-baby. They also talk about the struggle of being present with your newborn when you’re so focused on a schedule, dealing with baby brain when you return to work, raising good humans, asking for help, leaning into things that make you uncomfortable for the sake of your kids, and SO much more. This is an empowering and raw conversation about motherhood and womanhood that you don’t want to miss!Resource Links: Follow Kiersten on Instagram Follow rich and REGULAR on InstagramListen to the rich and REGULAR Podcast Want to be a guest on Arrivals?
