A Father’s Responsibility

Mt. Olive Baptist Church | 1/29/23 Deuteronomy 6:1-8 A Father’s Responsibility A father’s responsibility is to be the spiritual leader and teach the Word of God in the home. In our churches today where there is such a focus on youth and children’s ministry, we don’t see a generation coming up that is holding the line. We see a generation that is sliding. Whenever you see the training of children mentioned in the Bible, you always see it directed to the parents, particularly the father. Ephesians 6 - Paul doesn’t tell the church to start a youth ministry. He tells the fathers to bring their children up in the training and admonition of the Lord. The phrase “there is more caught than taught” is a false dichotomy. Deut. 6 says that fathers are to do both formal teaching and teaching by how you live. If it’s not taught, then it’s not going to be caught.
