"A Few Inches from Civil War" is how one commentator described the attempt on Donald Trump’s life on Saturday.I form the light and create darkness,I make peace and create calamity;I, the Lord, do all these things.’ Isaiah 45:7I am sure many of you have gone through the “what if” scenario in your mind. But the what-ifs are hard to imagine. A few inches different and the Republican National Convention this week would be trying to decide who should be their presidential candidate. At the time, Trump had not named a running mate. The choice would have been a free-for-all all. That, along with a Democratic Party that is actively trying to replace its dementia-disabled candidate. We would have no sense of national direction at all.One inch would have changed all of our lives in ways we cannot imagine. How would the MAGA faithful have reacted to the murder of their leader? Would there have been a civil war? Would China have taken the opportunity to invade Taiwan? Would the Islamic countries of the world see this as an opportunity to press into Israel? And what about Russia and Ukraine? Were we inches from World War Three?
