A few or many
from Daily Spark Hosted by William Liao
You can do a few things exceptionally well or many things passably. Immutable constraints related to time and energy dictate that you only get to choose one. I don’t think there’s an obvious right choice. Maybe getting to do a lot of things feels like a fair trade for being able to only do them passably. Maybe you will not accept anything short of excellence and therefore accept the tradeoff of only being able to focus on a few things. It’s a question of identity—of the kind of person you want to be. It’s a question of what you demand of yourself versus what you are willing to accept. This is a public episode.
