A “Grandpa Bob Effros” Edition of RRR Dec. 10, 2023

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Bob Effros, The Laughing Trumpeter Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Do you know who this jocular fellow is? He’s “The Laughing Trumpeter” Bob Effros and this week’s entire Rapidly Rotating Records show is devoted to him, celebrating his birthday, December 6, 1900. You’ll hear several records with his “maniacal” laughter, recordings of several of his compositions and recordings as a side man, many of them not heard on the show before. There’s also a brief biography and a couple of personal anecdotes about him courtesy of his eldest granddaughter and friend of the show, Barbara Effros. So set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era.
