A Heart for your Father

"I Pray… that they would be one, father, Just as you and I are one, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." John 17:21-22 Jesus' prayer that we would ‘be one’ in the same way that he and the father are one seems like an almost impossible achievement, such a depth of love in a relationship, such a sense of belonging to each other and being totally one with each other is impossible for us to achieve - on our own that is. It takes God to change the heart of a person towards another, but it also requires a willing heart and a pursuit of the grace to love another person. We mirror the relationship between God the Father and the Son through our attitudes towards our leaders and those we are called to pursue as Spiritual Fathers, and when you allow God to bring you to a place of deep belonging, he can pour out blessing. As Christians, we are called to relationship - to be at one with each other and with our leaders, to go beyond the normal acquaintences that most people gain. We are called to give our hearts to each other, and to be the example of Christ’s own relationship with his father in this world. To come to a place of loving each other completely, regardless and because of their flaws, and to reach that place of deep belonging, and oneness that can only be achieved through the pursuit of grace.
