Big Ideas - Mark 14:12-25 - Jesus is sharing the Passover meal with the Disciples - Passover is the promise of deliverance to an oppressed people - There is no lamb, because Jesus is the lamb - There are no bitter herbs, because Jesus is liberating us from our oppression - “This is my body” means “This is all of me, body, mind, and soul, and it’s for you.” - Jesus’ liberation is NEVER only spiritual - He liberates us from the bankrupt systems of this world. - We can live in the Kingdom of God right now, while it’s not here in full yet. We can live as if we are in it now. Questions - Have you felt liberated by Jesus? - How do you deal with the tension of being free from chasing power, materialism, etc, but still feeling pulled toward it? - Do you have a picture of being free from sin that is more than just morality and behavior? - What does it mean to you that you’re liberated from the power of sin and death? - What do you want to be freed from today? - What’s holding you back?
