A Higher Plane

from Life Lessons with Jim Carolla

Jim thanks everyone for the nice comments on the message boards, and begins the weekly exercise to become more in tune with a higher level of consciousness. He talks about how being a real person requires one to find a stable place between the two levels of being. He also points out that to make changes within ourselves, we need to give stuff up. Namely, they talk about the difficulty in getting rid of addictions. Whether you have bad eating, drinking, or smoking habits, trying to go against it will always be a struggle. Ray talks about how he once quit smoking for 2.5 years, but now smoking is just as automatic as sleeping. Jim also talks about his relationship with his brothers, and being dubbed with the nickname of ‘Gas.’ It gave him a feeling of inadequacy and he spent much of his early life trying to find a career that would allow him to escape the title. Ray relates and talks about how his grandfather used to make his mom feel stupid even though she was very bright. Ending the episode, Jim points out he and Ray have more in common than they once thought. Executive Producer: Donny Misraje
