An history of how inequality has been understood and interpreted by Canadians from the 1830s until the end of the 20th century, Sager has written an ambitious book covering almost two centuries of intellectual history. Eric Sager is currently professor emeritus in the Department of History at the University of Victoria where he has taught since 1983. His past worked has ranged from book-length studies on the on the history of the merchant sailors as well as the shipping industry in Atlantic Canada to the unemployed in late Victorian Canada.
