A House Of
from The Victor's Crown · host Mark Quaranta
“My house shall be called a house of prayer.”We hear this line a few times in Scripture—first in Isaiah, then when Christ quotes it in the New Testament.I think we can take a moment to reflect on this very practically. It’s not too far-fetched to think we want the same for our own homes. We want our homes to be houses of prayer. Now, it’s not going to be a house of prayer in the same way a Carmelite monastery is a house of prayer. Unless your kids are different than mine. But we can still ask: What do we want our house to be a house of?Is it a house of peace? A house of work? A house of escape? A house of distraction? What is the thing our house is a house of right now?And more importantly: What do we hope it could be?Because our homes become what we make them. What we prioritize. What we allow. What we model. If there’s no prayer, it won’t be a house of prayer. If there’s no peace, it won’t be a house of peace. If there’s no intentionality, it’ll become a house of whatever fills the void.So what are we building? What are we making room for?My house shall be called a house of _____.What fills in the blank?
