Keszthelyen a forradalom kitörése után egy héttel, 1956. november 1-én emeltek szobrot 56 hőseinek. Az úgynevezett „fehér embert” a kádári hatalom még sokáig nem merte elbontani a keszthelyi Fő térről. Amikor elbontották, gondos kezek elcsomagolták, s a rendszerváltoztatás után azonnal felállították – de nem az eredeti helyén. Most került oda vissza. Mindezek kapcsán beszélünk a vidék ötvenhatjáról is.
