A large garden sieve

Today, in my mind's eye, I saw a picture of a large garden sieve which I recall my sister using when she and he husband bought a plot of land in France with a house and rough earth surrounding it. She painstakingly sieved the rockery to get rid of the coarser stones and rocks. Ten years on she has a most beautiful garden. She had had to work hard to get it that way and to some extent to maintain it. Similarly, we need to make an effort in God's Kingdom, extending love to achieve results. The effort starts with believing His promises to us and acting on them. For instance, yesterday's message reminds us to trust Jesus's Words that we need not worry. Our actions and words indicate whether we trust His instructions or not. "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" (Colossians 3:23). Our doing for the Lord is to please Him rather than because we have been told to do so or because we would feel guilty if we didn't.
