A Life Worth Imitating

from Victory Church Jbay · host Richard Meyer

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.Philippians 3:12 (NKJV)This week we will be looking at the word that Pastor Richard Meyer shared on Sunday entitled ‘A Life Worth Imitating’.Firstly we need to get our aim right: when people follow me they should be following Jesus. We need to make sure that we keep in mind that part of being a part of the kingdom of God is drawing people closer to Jesus.Secondly, we need to be grounded in reality: our actions speak louder than our words. We cannot profess to be Christians and only act like it on Sundays during a church gathering. We should be the same person during the week so that people can see that our faith is authentic and not just an act. Finally, we need to remember that we will never fully attain that which we are striving for. Perfection is not the goal; progress is the goal. In order to live a life worth imitating, we must model what it looks like to grow and mature as we follow Christ. How can you daily remind yourself of your aim to lead people to Jesus?Which area of your life needs adjusting so that your actions ‘speak Jesus’ throughout your week? What is your next step in maturing, and how will you allow people to witness this growth?
