A Light in the Dark

from Insights Your Daily Word For Daily Living · host thelondonchristianradio

Have you ever tried walking in the dark—tripping over furniture, bumping into walls, unsure of your next step? That’s what life feels like when we live without God’s Word. It’s not that we aren’t moving; it’s that we can’t see where we’re going or why we’re going there. Psalm 119:105 paints a vivid picture: God’s Word isn’t a floodlight revealing everything at once; it’s a lamp to our feet—showing just enough for the next step. That means we have to walk daily, in trust and obedience, guided by His standard, not our own. Consider Daniel. As a young man in a foreign land, he was pressured to conform to Babylon’s culture. But he resolved not to defile himself with the king’s food (Daniel 1:8). He didn’t just know God’s standards—he lived by them. And because of that, he stood out and made an eternal impact. Living by God’s standards may cost us popularity, comfort, or convenience—but it brings clarity, peace, and purpose. It trains our hearts to follow Christ in a world that follows self.
