A Living Hope: 1 Peter 1:1-5: Day 1

Because Jesus is alive, our hope is alive and our inheritance is secure.Peter begins his letter by addressing believers as "elect exiles"- people chosen by God and living as strangers in this world. Their circumstances may be uncertain, but their identity and future are secure. Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, they have been born again into a living hope and an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade.Christian hope is not optimism. It is not pretending everything will be okay because we feel positive. It is confidence rooted in something that has already happened: Jesus Christ has risen from the dead.Because Jesus lives, our future is secure.Reflection: Where are you most tempted to place your hope in something temporary instead of the living hope you have in Christ?
